When can I join the dance classes?
You can join right now! The dance classes will be running every Sunday.
What is locking or lockin'?
Best way to explain would be to watch it for yourself. Take a look at the following clip and be inspired!
I am a bit shy to dance with others in a dance class. Do you teach private dance lessons?
Yes, this is possible! In addition to my dance classes, I also teach private dancing lessons and private group bookings if you would prefer a more personal experience with individualised feedback, ego stroking and if you like to hear me call your name. Private group bookings with friends (real or imaginary) is also possible.
It's great because you get more individual feedback than dance classes, it's cheaper than private one-to-one dance lessons and you get to hear me tell off your friends.
Be warned: with private dance lessons you may see the side of you called the 'dancer' come out more frequently. Make sure you like that side of you.
Whether you want to conquer the world with dance or eliminate the world of dance we will discuss your goals and help you achieve these in the quickest time. The cost is £30/hr (+ the cost of studio hire). Different rates apply for private group bookings. For private 1 on 1 dance lessons or group bookings please contact me at info@hipdancemoves.com

How do I know which dance class to choose?
One of our favourite methods is "Eenie, meenie, miney, mo". Another one is "Ip Dip, Sky Blue". So you would line them up one by one like this:
Locking Level 1 (complete beginners)
Locking Level 2 (intermediate-advanced)
Now all you have to do is say your favourite rhyme pointing at each dance class and eliminate them one by one. One will be left victorious and you should choose this course.
Where do the street dancing/ locking dance classes take place?
Dance classes take place at:
Oasis Sports Centre
32 Endell Street
Covent Garden
London
WC2H 9AG
This is 5 minutes walk from Covent Garden Station.
When do the street dancing classes take place?
Dance classes take place on a convenient day for most people - Sunday!.
Locking Level 1 currently runs at 1 - 2pm on Sundays.
Locking Level 2 currently runs at 2 - 3pm on Sundays.
How do I join a dance class?
Turn up and dance or send me an email at info@hipdancemoves.com if you'd like a 1/2 price trial dance class.
Do I have to be fit to take part?
That's up to you. If you think you're fit, congratulations! If you don't think you're fit, do something to improve your fitness! Dancing lessons, hip-hop dance steps and locking and popping have been known to improve fitness.
I can't dance at all, will I be able to learn?
No so don't even try! Here are important personal qualities to be able to become a good dancer: dedication, attention to detail, not taking it too seriously, believing in yourself, mental toughness. If you happen to have these qualities, have a look at a Hip Dance Moves Class. You will be treated like a prince/ princess if you have these qualities.
I am 30 years old. Is it too late to start learning to dance?
Janet Jackson and Madonna are still sweating in out in dance studios and on stage, learning new dance routines and styles and they're past 30. Should they give up?
Are children allowed?
This is an adult dance class. However mature children are allowed as long as they are not disruptive and are able to concentrate for the duration of a dance class.
Do you have mirrored dance studios?
Yes! All dance classes are taught in dance studios with mirrors to ensure maximum progress. You can see yourself and everyone else back to front.
What should I wear for the dance classes?
Wear comfortable clothing and trainers/ sneakers. If you like the tight trousers look that is cool as long as you can move your legs freely in the dance class, so make sure they're flexible tight if you're going for that look. If it's fashion advice in general you're after, I heard Trinny and Susanna are friendly and helpful. Or find someone with terrible fashion, ask them what is good fashion and do the exact opposite.
How do I become a dancer on TV?
Becoming a dancer on TV requires talent, determination and most important of all strong belief. It is important to be training regularly and attending dance classes to get yourself up to the required standard. If you can try and get into a full-time dance school as soon as you're old enough as this will give you a strong, all-round training. There are many, find the one that makes sense for your goals.
